These compounds were received over a period of time in 2004, therefore plate 1453 was plated in late August 2004, and plates 1454 and 1455 were plated in November 2004. Production of this fungal extract library was funded by an International
Cooperative Biodiversity Groups (ICBG) grant from the NIH to Dr.
Jon Clardy. The library contains partially purified extracts from
endophytic fungi (fungi that live in higher plants) that grow in
Costa Rica. Crude extracts from the fungi were obtained and further
fractionated to eliminate nuisance compounds, especially those of
high molecular weight or high polarity.
Screening positives that have been confirmed by follow-up experiments on cherry
picked samples can be further fractionated via a collaboration with the lab of
Dr. Jon Clardy (Harvard Medical School). Please contact Caroline Shamu (caroline_shamu@hms.harvard.edu)
to arrange for purification of "hit" compounds from extract samples.
