Java Web Application Developer :

This position will work with the project's senior software engineer to develop, maintain, and support a free, open source, web-based lab information management system for the ICCB-L/NSRB high-throughput screening facility at Harvard Medical School. The application is evolving rapidly in response to the needs of the laboratory's staff and the researchers it supports, and is also being adapted and placed into production by other HTS labs internationally. The project is database-centric and employs modern software technologies, including JavaServer Faces, Spring Framework, and Hibernate.

Initial tasks will focus on user interface enhancements, automated testing, profiling and optimization, and release management activities, with excellent potential for growth into all levels of technical responsibilities.

B.S. Computer Science or equivalent (mathematical or engineering preferred).

Java as a first language. Strong drive to understand how things work, and why they fail. Ideal candidates will have experience in many of the following areas: object-oriented design, unit testing, design patterns, refactoring, configuration management, UNIX, relational databases, SQL, and data modeling.

Interest in biology and bioinformatics a plus. A disciplined, result-oriented, and self-managing work ethic is considered equally important to technical skill. This is a full-time position, with a very flexible work environment.
